![]() Welcome to WordBanquet. I'm pleased that you're taking a moment to visit. This web site was designed to showcase my articles, essays, and recipes. There is a general focus on food and cooking, but you'll find lots of stuff here -- essays on everything from family ties to woodswalking to throwing a dinner party for the first time. There are also dozens of wonderful dessert recipes, and a funny area that gives you the chance to share your own tale of food comedy or woe. Please e-mail me with questions, and thanks again for taking the time to stop by. --Catherine S. Vodrey
Vodrey served as food editor of COUNTRY DECORATOR magazine from 1997 to 2001. From 1996 through 2004, she was a regular contributor to the food section of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Vodrey's photographs, essays and recipes have been published in AMERICAN HERITAGE, BETTER HOMES & GARDENS, GOURMET, COUNTRY HOME, WEIGHT WATCHERS MAGAZINE, and COOKING PLEASURES. She is a contributing author to The Encyclopedia of Appalachia, a first-of-its-kind reference work, and to the cookbook The Old Farmer's Almanac Favorite Cookies. From 1993 to 2000, Vodrey wrote and published CONVIVIUM, a bimonthly food and cooking letter. CONVIVIUM was the subject of rave reviews from the likes of The Chicago Tribune and The Washington Post -- which in 1996 named it one of America's ten best culinary newsletters. It boasted subscribers in over three dozen states and half a dozen foreign countries. Vodrey lives deep in the woods of eastern Ohio with her family.
